The days starts with a stroll around the church ‘Ermita de Nuestra Señora del Mirón’ which lies beside the hotel. Then a slow walk by the river Duero (Paraje Natural Soto Playa). Autumn colors surrounds us and it’s all very lovely.

We drive towards Sigüenza. Mostly on the highway. Siguënza is marvellous and we get a good late lunch overlooking the cathedral which we also get to enjoy, including an interesting exhibition commemorating Cervantes and Shakespeare 1616 – 2016, aTempora.

After Siguënza we drive on to our last destination of this vacation – Cuenca. End of the day clouds and some light rain emerged. Who cares…

9€ to Berlin and back I

These are the records from an intentionally complicated train trip to Berlin and back that we made in July 2022. It began on the 24th and ended on the 31st. We used the generous 9 Euro ticket for all travelling in Germany. If I remember correct, we used the cheap Arriva One Day ticket for the Danish travels.

Schedule 24/JULY/2022

That was a long journey! However, quite relaxing and so far we had no issues with over crowded trains although all trains in Germany were almost fully seated this day. There were some delays/reschedules between Nielbüll and Husum but nothing that really bothered us. Finally we arrived in Lübeck to a warm and beautiful evening. A short walk to Holstentor followed by a perfect Jever at the hotel (the niu Rig) closes the day. The hotel, which can be recommended, lies very close to the Bahnhof.

Beautiful day while driving from Bilbao to Soría. Beautiful sights over forests, mountains and vineyards. Passed through Vitoria-Gasteiz without stopping but parked, walked and ate a late lunch in Logroño. Arrived in the evening to a grand view from the hotel room in Soría, overlooking Río Duero.
